Boiler Installation & Replacement in Droitwich & Worcestershire

We install new gas boilers across Droitwich, Worcester and the wider Worcestershire area - combi, system and regular. As approved installers for both Baxi and Vaillant, we can offer extended manufacturer warranties well beyond the standard guarantee, and every installation is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers and notified to Gas Safe before we leave.

Just as importantly, we'll size the boiler to your property rather than replacing like-for-like out of habit. Oversized boilers are one of the most common problems we find on existing systems... they cost more to buy, cycle inefficiently and cost more to run. A short survey avoids all of that.

When Is It Worth Replacing a Boiler?

Not every boiler problem needs a new boiler, and we'll say so if a repair is the sensible option. That said, replacement usually makes sense when:

  • It's over 12–15 years old and needing regular attention. Parts availability starts to become a problem around this point, and efficiency has usually dropped well below what a modern condensing boiler achieves.
  • Repairs are stacking up. A single fault is worth fixing. Three call-outs in two years is money going into a system that's on its way out.
  • The repair cost is a large share of a replacement. Roughly speaking, if a repair is more than about a third of the cost of a new boiler on an older unit, replacement is usually the better spend.
  • It's a non-condensing model. Anything installed before around 2005 is likely to be. Efficiency gains from replacing these are substantial.
  • Your hot water or pressure isn't keeping up with how the house is now used - an extra bathroom, more people, a shower that's never been strong enough.
  • You're changing the system anyway - an extension, a bathroom, or moving to underfloor heating.

If you're unsure which side of the line you're on, we'll tell you honestly. We'd rather repair a boiler that has years left in it than sell a replacement that isn't needed.

Which Type of Boiler Do You Need?

Three main types, and the right one depends on your water pressure, how many bathrooms you have and how the household actually uses hot water.

Combi Boilers

Heat water on demand, with no cylinder or tank - which frees up the airing cupboard and the loft. They suit most one- and two-bathroom homes and are the most common choice in Droitwich and Worcester. The limitation is simultaneous demand: run two showers at once and you'll notice. They also depend on decent incoming mains pressure, which we check before recommending one.

System Boilers

Work with a separate hot water cylinder, usually unvented. Better for larger homes and anywhere with more than one bathroom, because stored hot water can serve several outlets at once at full pressure. They need cylinder space, but the performance difference in a busy house is significant. We're G3 qualified, so we can handle the cylinder side too.

Heat-only Boilers

The traditional setup, with a cylinder and a feed tank in the loft. Usually specified when replacing like-for-like in an older property where reworking the pipework would be disproportionate - or where the existing system is genuinely well-suited to it. Less common in new installations, but occasionally the right answer.

We'll go through this with you at the survey. It's a decision worth getting right... swapping type later means pipework changes, not just a new boiler.

LPG BOILER INSTALLATION

We're qualified to work on LPG as well as mains natural gas, which matters if you're one of the many Worcestershire properties that isn't on the gas grid.

A large part of the county is rural - the villages around Pershore, Evesham and Upton, plenty of properties out towards Malvern and the Wyre Forest... and LPG is common in all of them.

LPG and natural gas are not interchangeable. Appliances are configured for one or the other, the burner pressures differ, and a Gas Safe engineer needs specific LPG qualification on their registration to work on it legally. Not every heating firm holds it, which is why rural properties often struggle to find someone locally. We do, so LPG boiler installation, replacement, servicing and repair are all straightforward for us.

If you're currently on LPG and thinking about your options, it's also worth knowing that LPG is one of the more expensive fuels to run a home on. An air source heat pump usually compares far more favourably against LPG than it does against mains gas — so if you're replacing an LPG boiler anyway, it's a good moment to at least look at the alternative. We install both, so we're happy to price it either way.

BAXI & VAILLANT APPROVED INSTALLER

We're approved installers for both Baxi and Vaillant - two of the most reliable boiler manufacturers on the UK market. Approval means we've completed their training and meet their installation standards, and it's checked rather than self-declared.

For you, the practical benefits are extended warranties - considerably longer than the standard manufacturer guarantee, and registered on your behalf when we complete the job - plus direct manufacturer support if anything ever needs escalating. Being approved for two brands also means we're not tied to recommending one: if a Baxi suits your property and budget better than a Vaillant, that's what we'll say.

How the Installation Works

Survey

We come and look at the property - existing system, pipework, gas supply, flue options, water pressure and how the household uses hot water. Usually 30–45 minutes.

1

Written quote

Itemised, with the boiler we're recommending and why, plus any alternatives worth considering. No obligation.

2

Date agreed

Most straightforward swaps are a single day. More involved jobs - conversions, repositioning, cylinder work - are usually two.

3

Installation

Dust sheets down, old boiler removed and taken away, new system fitted, flushed and pressure-tested.

4

Commissioning and handover

We set the system up properly, run through the controls with you and leave the paperwork in your hands.

5

Registration

Installation notified to Gas Safe and the warranty registered with the manufacturer on your behalf. Nothing for you to do.

6

SHOULD YOU CONSIDER A HEAT PUMP INSTEAD?

Worth asking, and we're in an unusual position to answer it honestly - we're MCS certified as well as Gas Safe registered, so we install both. We have no particular stake in which one you choose.

For a well-insulated property with space for an outdoor unit and radiators that can run at lower flow temperatures, an air source heat pump can be a genuinely good move, especially with the government grant taking a substantial chunk off the cost. For a solid-wall Victorian terrace with small radiators and no realistic space outside, a modern condensing boiler is usually the better decision today. The only way to know which applies to you is a proper heat loss survey.
